Finally, tourists will have the opportunity to visit the Trevi Fountain in Rome, after the restoration that lasted 3 months and that closed one of the most frequented points of the Italian capital.
Built in the 18th century by the Italian architect Nicola Salvi on the facade of the Poli Palace, the historic fountain used to welcome around 10,000 to 12,000 tourists every year, but now a new system has been installed in its entrances to avoid large crowds .
The mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, said that the establishment of the rules will allow all tourists to enjoy the fountain better, without confusion.
Gualtieri also said authorities were considering charging a modest entrance fee to fund the fountain's maintenance.
The fountain's three-month restoration project included removing mold and calcium. (A2 Televizion)
