Rapper A$AP Rocky has been acquitted of assault charges after a Los Angeles courtroom trial. Rocky, who is the partner of singer Rihanna, was charged with two felony counts of assault with a semi-automatic weapon in connection with a November 2021 incident in Hollywood. His former friend, A$AP Relli, was part of the incident, claiming he was shot by Rocky, although he was not seriously injured.
After a trial that lasted several weeks, the jury found Rocky not guilty after about three hours of deliberation. The judge instructed jurors to assess whether he had acted in self-defense, and Rocky's defense argued that the gun used was a prop with blank cartridges, which was used to scare Relli, who had attacked another member of his group.
The court's decision came as a relief for the rapper, who was facing the possibility of a sentence of up to 24 years in prison. After the acquittal, A$AP Rocky celebrated the decision with his partner Rihanna, who was present in the courtroom throughout the process and supported him at every moment.
The decision comes at a crucial time in Rocky's career, as he is set to headline the Rolling Loud festival and appear in a new film directed by Spike Lee. Rocky also has a busy schedule, including other major music and fashion events. (A2 Televizion)
