An interesting initiative has been introduced in Washington to combat the social isolation of the elderly by offering them "Robopets", or robots that play the role of a pet.
About 1,000 of these "Joy for All Companion Pets" have been distributed free of charge, with an investment of $150,000, to provide companionship and comfort to seniors living alone. These robo-animals are programmed to mimic the behavior of real animals, such as dogs or cats.
Furthermore, these robotic animals do not require any care or health assistance, making them an excellent alternative for those who cannot afford the costs of traditional pets.
The initiative aims to reduce the level of isolation that has gripped many seniors in Washington, where many live alone. Health experts have stressed that this could have a positive impact on the well-being of seniors, providing them with companionship that can prevent depression and help maintain their mental and physical health.
