A purple 1962 Ferrari FTO was the star of yesterday's Sotheby's auction in New York, where paintings by Monet, Picasso and Chagall, among others, went up for auction.
The Ferrari, which is a GTO sports car in perfect condition, sold for $51.7 million (€48.3 million), achieving two things, first, it became the most expensive Ferrari vehicle and the second most expensive in history sold at auction.
The most expensive is a Mercedes-Benz, whose value reached 135 million euros last year.
Sotheby's raised more than 400 million last week with the Emily Fisher Landau collection, the most profitable collection assembled by a female collector, which featured the second most expensive Picasso, Femme a la montre, which fetched 139 million. (A2 Televizion)
