We said our final goodbye to little EQ today.
She was the daughter of Xh., whom I consider my brother. She was the daughter of M., who is like my sister.
They were expecting their first child. Everything had gone very well throughout the pregnancy.
They followed him with the doctor A. Sh.
On Thursday of last week, they performed the necessary checks on the baby, and everything turned out to be fine.
The mother was in her 40th week of pregnancy that day.
On Friday evening, the mother felt that the baby was not moving, as usual. Worried, they called the doctor who had followed the pregnancy, and he asked them to go to the maternity emergency room "Koço Glozheni".
They left around 9:50 p.m.
The doctor on duty that night was Dr. Kastriot Dallaku.
The mother's complaint was clear: "The baby is not moving, as usual."
The doctor did a CTG (cardiotocography), a chart that monitors the fetal heartbeat, but only for a few minutes.
Afterwards, he told them that everything was okay and asked them to go home.
The child's father himself asked the midwife on duty several times to check the waters, as they felt something was wrong. Their requests were ignored.
When a pregnant woman, at 40 weeks + 1 day, presents to the emergency room because she no longer feels fetal movements as before, and is only given a brief CTG and then sent home, this is an irresponsible and potentially fatal medical action.
Why?
1. Decreased fetal movements are a very serious warning sign, especially in post-term pregnancies.
It may indicate a lack of oxygen, aging of the placenta, or other complications.
2. CTG for 7-8 minutes is not enough.
Monitoring should have been done for at least 20 minutes, along with:
Ultrasound for fetal Doppler and amniotic fluid (AFI) measurement,
Biophysical profile test.
3. The pregnancy was post-term.
After the 40th week, the risk increases every day. In the presence of decreased movements, this is sufficient reason for hospitalization and possibly induction of labor.
None of this was done by doctor Kastriot Dallaku. The doctor neglected the case in a frightening way.
What happened next?
After being "calmed down" by the doctor, the couple returned home.
On Saturday around 2:00 PM, the mother had a temperature of 38°C.
They immediately notify the attending physician, who asks them to go to the emergency room again.
They go to the same maternity ward, where Dr. Anika Dokle awaits them. She promptly and professionally performs the surgical delivery in less than 7 minutes.
We thank him endlessly for saving the mother's life and trying to save the baby, who he delivered in her last heartbeat.
The newborn was immediately intubated and transferred to intensive care.
We also thank the Hospital Director, Dr. Genci Hyska, for his presence and commitment.
Gratitude also goes to Dr. Alketa Qose and the resuscitation team who did everything possible. Dr. Alketa stayed by his head all night, hoping for a miracle.
But unfortunately, according to doctors, the child died on Monday from multi-organ failure.
This is the tragedy of the little EQ
An innocent life that did not have the opportunity to live, due to the suspicion of criminal negligence of a doctor who did not hear, did not see, did not react.
A death that could have been avoided.
We have filed a criminal complaint.
We have performed the autopsy.
We buried him today.
But we won't end this story here.
Because I don't want another parent, another daughter, another angel, to go through the same tragedy.
E., little heart, may you be at peace and close to God. You are an angel today. You were not at fault! (A2 Televizion)
