To imagine Germany as a white dove of peace, with humble people who only work to deserve the "prize" of being the locomotive of Europe, must be a deep mistake that forgets history, its warnings and the "bequests" that some very wise people have left at different times. Inequality and fast:
Roosevelt: “…a militarized Germany is a threat not only to Europe, but to the whole world,”
Stalin: "If Germany arms itself without limits, war is inevitable,"
De Gaulle: "A strong and armed Germany will not be stopped...",
David Lloyd George: “…if this nation rises up with force and seeks revenge, the world will pay a terrible price,”
Aristide Briant: “… history teaches us that Germany never forgets”,
Herbert Hoover: "If Germany has no way to move forward economically, then it will choose the path of war."
Churchill: “…A strong, uncontrolled Germany is a danger that Europe can no longer afford,”
De Gaulle: "A free and democratic Germany is indispensable for peace, but we must never forget that its economic and military strength can become a threat if not properly channeled."
Konrad Adenauer: "We must not allow history to repeat itself. Germany must be a power of peace, not a source of fear."
Margaret Thatcher: "We must not forget that whenever Germany has become too strong, something has happened that has destabilized Europe."
As a reminder, after 80 years, exactly after 80 years, Germany decides to rearm, certainly a forced decision. And they usually do the rearmament by being the first in inventing weapons and war tactics. Perhaps Trump, with his exclusionary, threatening and distancing rhetoric of the USA from Europe, has stirred the sleeping dragon.
Are these different conditions from the old ones? Who knows. Who knows what really happens inside the veins and memory of the Germans. In almost all the speeches of the top German leaders after L2B, when the word came up, or was the case, it seemed as if they were pleading: Do not force us to arm ourselves again…
But even under other conditions, a French philosophy for a single European people, united with a formidable German army, supported by an invincible Britain…here we have a new “monster” never before encountered in history. But Trump will probably not live to see his “creature.” (A2 Televizion)
