US President Donald Trump has announced tariffs of 35 percent on imports from Serbia and 30 percent on imports from Bosnia and Herzegovina. They are expected to take effect on August 1, 2025.
From this date, tariffs will also go into effect for other countries. Trump has emphasized that he will further increase tariffs if countries retaliate with additional taxes on imports from the United States.
Regarding this, Trump has sent letters to state leaders, including Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić.
In the letter, which begins with the words, "Dear Mr. President," Trump says that the United States will continue cooperation with Serbia, despite the significant trade deficit with this country.
According to Trump, the new tariff will enable fairer and more balanced trade, although as noted, it remains much lower than the tariff needed to eliminate the trade deficit. Earlier in April, Trump imposed a 10% tariff on imports from Kosovo. (A2 Televizion)
