The Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Tetova, Safet Emruli, confirmed that the decision to dismiss Mr. Grubi was made due to his unreasonable absence from work.

" The decision has been communicated to him officially, both by mail and electronically ," explained dean Emruli.

According to the law, an employee can be fired if he does not appear at the workplace for three days in a row, or five days throughout the year, and does not give any reason for the absence.

The decision of the faculty was welcomed by the coalition of Albanian parties in the government "Vlen", whose representatives said that Mr. Grubi " does not meet the moral nor professional criteria to teach at the University of Tetova ".

On December 18, the authorities in Skopje announced the international wanted declaration of Mr. Grubi, under suspicion of fraud with the State Lottery together with its former director, Përparim Bajrami. The prosecution says that the damage caused is calculated at 8.2 million euros.

Grubi and Bajrami have fled the country and their whereabouts are unknown.

The Macedonian authorities started investigations and criminal prosecution after the announcement of the US State Department on December 9, that it has designated the former first deputy prime minister of North Macedonia, Artan Grub, and the member of the Court of Appeal, Enver Bexheti, as undesirable persons due to the involvement of them in acts of corruption.

In the announcement of the State Department, it was said that Grubi and Bexheti "took bribes by undermining the court proceedings related to the conviction of Sasha Mijalkov, former director of the Security and Intelligence Agency in North Macedonia."

The former deputy prime minister has not made any statement except for a post on Facebook, after the prosecution announced on December 11 that it would investigate the case of bribes in charge of Mr. Grubi and Mr. Bexheti. He said he was withdrawing from public life.

During a recent stay in Kosovo, the Chairman of the Democratic Union for Integration, Ali Ahmeti, of which Mr. Grubi is a part, said that "he was somewhere in the Albanian lands".

" I have not met him; it's good. It is a process that must have an epilogue. Artan Grubi is ready to answer before the justice bodies, to respect the laws, but not with vindictive and selective justice ", said Mr. Ahmeti in the last days of 2024.

His statement prompted the reaction of several political parties in Skopje, some of which demanded that Mr. Ahmeti appear at the prosecutor's office to confess about the whereabouts of Artan Grubi. VOA (A2 Televizion)
