Serbia has failed this time to play its usual double game with the big guys. President Aleksandar Vučić was unable to make peace and was forced to apologize for supporting the European resolution at the United Nations to preserve the territorial integrity of Ukraine. This opened up problems for him as he was accused of supporting a stance against Russia, writes A2 CNN.

“I think Serbia made a mistake. I apologize to the citizens of Serbia and for this I take the blame myself, because maybe I am tired and burdened, so I cannot do everything. The explanation I received after the vote at the UN, where, to be clear about what we were talking about, we voted in favor of the European resolution. Regarding the American resolution, we voted exactly as we should, we abstained. In my opinion, we should have abstained on the European resolution as well. And as you can see, I am saying this at a time when I believe that I will lose this political favor,” said Aleksandar Vučić, President of Serbia.

However, the Kremlin has accepted the Serbian leader's apology. "We have heard and accepted the apology of the President of Serbia. Indeed, technical errors happen and, of course, such a quick reaction from the head of state impresses us very much," said Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman.

Vučić is not satisfied with that and wants to receive a verbal and direct apology from Moscow. The Serbian president will meet with the Russian ambassador to Belgrade, Aleksandar Bochan Kharchenko, on Wednesday. Putin's diplomat met with the Serbian defense minister, Bratislav Gasic, on Tuesday. (A2 Televizion)
