At least 53 people have lost their lives as a result of a powerful earthquake that hit the Himalayan region of Tibet in China.
Local media reports that the magnitude 7.1 tremors have destroyed many homes in the canton of Dingri, where the greatest damage is verified.
The earthquake, which had a depth of 10 km, was felt as far as Nepal and the Indian state of Bihar.
More than 1,500 firefighters and volunteers have already been engaged in the field in search of the remaining people trapped under the ruins of the collapsed houses. (A2 Televizion)
