Gaza ceasefire: Hamas releases 4 Israeli soldiers, 26 hostages still remaining

The Palestinian militant movement Hamas released 4 Israeli soldiers, whom it had been holding hostage since October 2024. The women held in Gaza were handed over to the Red Cross by armed Hamas fighters, writes A2 CNN.

Crowds gathered in the main square of Gaza City ahead of the release. This is the second group of Israeli hostages to be released by Hamas since the ceasefire was reached. In exchange, 200 Palestinian prisoners will be released from Israeli jails.

The militant group that runs the Gaza Strip is expected to provide more information on the remaining 26 hostages who will be released under the deal in the coming weeks. Israeli soldiers are also expected to withdraw from key positions in Gaza, allowing more displaced Palestinians to return to their homes in the north. (A2 Televizion)
