Donald Trump has spoken for the first time about his statements before he was elected President of the United States, where he said he would stop the war in Ukraine for 1 day.
According to foreign media, speaking to TIME magazine, Trump said that his claim that he could end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours was a joke.
"Well, I said it figuratively and I said it as an exaggeration," Trump said, writes A2 CNN.
"Of course, people know that when I said that, it was said in jest, but it was also said that the war would end," Trump added.
His statement comes the week the White House warned that Trump is "frustrated" with negotiations to end the war and his patience is "running out."
He has also made separate pleas to Presidents Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin in the past two days to end the war after warning that he may give up on mediating peace if either side "makes it too difficult." (A2 Televizion)
