Russia is blaming Ukraine for a drone strike that caused a massive fire at an oil depot in Sochi. Flights to the city's airport on the Black Sea have been suspended. According to local authorities, debris from the drone hit a fuel tanker and 127 firefighters were deployed to put out the flames.
Moscow said the attack on the oil refinery was one of several that Kiev had carried out over the weekend, hitting installations in the southern cities of Ryazan, Penza and Voronezh. The governor of Voronezh said four people had been injured in a drone strike.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, air defense systems had intercepted 93 Ukrainian drones overnight, 60 of them in the Black Sea region.
Meanwhile, a Russian missile destroyed homes and civilian infrastructure in the southern city of Mykolaiv in Ukraine.
At least seven civilians were reported injured in the city, which has been frequently targeted by Russian airstrikes. According to the Ukrainian air force, Russia launched 83 drones and seven missiles overnight, 61 of which were destroyed.
The statement added that 16 drones and 6 missiles had hit their targets in 8 locations. The new attacks come after a bloody week for civilians in Ukraine, with at least 31 deaths recorded in Kiev on Thursday.
Following this attack, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for stronger international sanctions against Russia, while US President Trump condemned Moscow's actions and warned of new sanctions. (A2 Televizion)
