Hamas has lost control of northern Gaza. The news was announced by Israel's defense minister, Yoav Gallant, at a press conference on Tuesday evening.
He added that the Israeli army has made significant advances and that it now controls the center of Gaza City, in the north.
For days, the Israeli army has surrounded Al-Shifa Hospital, in the city, which Israel says is located on top of a Hamas military base.
Hamas denies the IDF's claims, but recently, the US says it has intelligence that supports Israel's claim.
"Hamas has lost control, and in fact, we are in control in the entire central theater of the Gaza Strip, in the north of the Strip and in particular in Gaza City," Gallant said.
But when asked how long the war could last, the Israeli minister said: "We are talking about long months, not one or two days."
