The Israeli military has identified the bodies of children Kfir and Ariel Bibas, returned by Hamas on Thursday, but adds that the third body handed over was not that of their mother, Shiri Bibas.
According to the IDF spokesman, the DNA of the third body does not match that of any of the hostages still in Gaza.
Israeli authorities further reject Hamas' claims that the Bibas family was killed by the bombing, saying they were executed by their hostage-takers.
"Ariel and Kfir Bibas were brutally killed in captivity in November 2023 by Palestinian terrorists," an IDF spokesman said.
Israel is demanding that Hamas return the body of Shiri Biba, accusing the Palestinian Islamist movement of handing over the remains of an unknown person instead of the mother of children Ariel and Kfir.
"We call on Hamas to return Shiri Bibas and all those who were kidnapped," Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesman Avichay Adraee wrote on Telegram. (A2 Televizion)
