"I saved lives" - Trump seeks to rescue Ukrainian troops

The Russian military has claimed to have surrounded Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region, following a surprise offensive by Moscow.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has urged Moscow to spare the lives of 'encircled' Ukrainians in a post on social media.

According to foreign media, Trump begins by saying that his team had "very good and productive discussions with President Vladimir Putin of Russia" on Thursday.

"Of course the Ukrainians are pulling out of Kursk, they had about a 35 km pocket to get out, that pocket has narrowed today," Trump said, writes A2 CNN.

"Some Ukrainians may have been captured. Most of them, I think, may be able to leave," he said further.

We saw footage earlier this week of Ukrainian troops fleeing that key city, writes A2 CNN.

Trump says: "At this very moment, thousands of Ukrainian troops are completely surrounded by the Russian military and in a very bad and vulnerable position."

"I have strongly urged President Putin to spare their lives," the US President further said, writes A2 CNN.

"This would be a horrific massacre, the likes of which have not been seen since World War II."

God bless everyone!" Trump concluded, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
