Two people are suspected of having died in Mannheim, Germany, after a car ploughed into a crowd on Planken Street, in the city's shopping district.
The news was announced by German media, according to which 25 people were injured, while the driver of the vehicle was detained by police, reports A2 CNN.
According to German media, it is still unknown whether this was an accident or a deliberate act.
According to eyewitnesses cited by Mannheim24, the car crashed into the crowd at high speed near the Water Tower, a landmark in the city, A2 CNN reports.
Mannheim is located in the German state of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Police say a law enforcement operation is underway in the city center. “Citizens are advised to avoid the city center,” police wrote in X.
