Israeli minister threatens to resign over Hamas ceasefire deal

Israel's far-right National Security Minister, Itamar Ben-Gvir, has threatened to resign from the government if the ceasefire agreement with Hamas is approved.

According to foreign media, his party, Jewish Power, which has only six seats, gave Netanyahu's coalition enough to form a majority in the 120-seat parliament before the Gaza war.

But his party's departure from the coalition would not bring down Netanyahu's government. The leader of the central parliamentary opposition, Yair Lapid, has previously said he would support the government from outside in the event of a right-wing rebellion over any hostage deal.

Yair Lapid, leader of the centrist Yesh Atid party, said: "I say to Benjamin Netanyahu, don't be afraid, you will receive every security support you need to make the hostage deal."

"This is more important than any disagreement we've ever had," he said, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
