Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov expressed his appreciation for the fact that the United States is beginning to return to "normalcy" without anti-Christian ideas.
"I think what is happening in the United States can be characterized as a return to normalcy," the Russian Foreign Minister said in an interview with American bloggers Mario Naufal, Larry Johnson and Andrew Napolitano.
"This is about a return to normality in the form that we understand it. We are Orthodox Christians. Our values are generally similar," Lavrov said.
In the interview, the Russian Foreign Minister also speaks at length about the ongoing peace negotiations in Ukraine. As he made clear, Moscow will not make compromises that will endanger people's lives.
He further emphasized that his country would under no circumstances accept the presence of NATO troops in Ukraine as peacekeepers. In particular, when asked under what conditions Russia could accept such a proposal, he categorically rejected any possibility of implementing this initiative.
"No way. Nobody told us about this. They constantly say no decisions on Ukraine without Ukraine's participation, but in reality they do everything against Russia, without Russia. When US President Donald Trump was asked about peacekeeping forces, he replied that it was too early to discuss this, but usually the consent of all parties is required. Why agree on a peacekeeping force or group? They want this force to consist of countries that have labeled us as enemies. Will they come there as peacemakers?" the Russian minister asked.
"The importance of Ukraine for ensuring Russia's security is many times greater than the importance of Greenland for the security of the United States," Lavrov continued in his interview with American bloggers, explaining that any attempt at rapprochement to resolve the crisis should be aimed at "eliminating the root causes."
The Russian Foreign Minister expressed his assessment that Trump does not want to provide American security guarantees to Ukraine, under the leadership of Volodymyr Zelensky.
"He has his own view on the situation, which he expresses regularly and clearly," Lavrov stressed.
In Lavrov's opinion, the United States intends to hand over the leading position to the British within the Ramstein base, created by a group of Western countries to coordinate the supply of weapons to Ukraine.
"Every time the Ukrainians violate an agreement, they lose territory, and this process has been going on for the past few years," Lavrov argued.
The Russian Foreign Minister also described as "shameful" the position of France and Germany towards the Minsk Agreements, which they signed. "The way the French and Germans are behaving is shameful," he said, lashing out at Emmanuel Macron, who he added "in a pathetic statement lied about the meeting on Ukraine in Paris in 2019.
