Melania Trump has chosen a "power pose" and a stern, unsmiling look for her new official photo as First Lady of the White House.
The image is a marked contrast to that of 2017, in which the former Slovenian model had chosen to welcome her husband's first term with a half-smile and folded arms.
Dressed in a dark suit and open white shirt, Donald Trump's 54-year-old third wife was pictured with her fingers resting on a mirrored table, with the George Washington obelisk rising in the background. The photo was released by the White House and is in black and white.
The portrait was shot by Régine Mahaux, a photographer from Belgium who has been taking pictures of the Trump family for more than 20 years.
The first lady's office confirmed that the photo was taken on January 21, 2025, while portraits of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance were released earlier this month ahead of the inauguration.
According to some media outlets, the photo in the White House Yellow Room evokes promotional images of The Apprentice, the reality talent show that revived Trump's fortune and could be a sign of a major comeback for Melania, who recently signed a $40 million deal with Amazon for a documentary about his life.
