Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a message on Wednesday evening that he discussed with his team the format of the upcoming talks in Turkey, waiting to see who will represent Russia before deciding on Ukraine's next step.
"I am waiting to see who will come from Russia and then I will decide what steps Ukraine should take," the Ukrainian president stressed, expressing doubts about Moscow's willingness to contribute to de-escalation, foreign media write.
At the same time, Zelensky also referred to information that US President Donald Trump is considering participating in the talks in Ankara, noting that this could be the strongest factor influencing the process. "This week can change a lot. Everything is being judged at this moment," he said, leaving all possibilities for the outcome of the meeting open.
Zelensky did not forget to thank the leaders and countries that continue to put pressure on Russia to stop the attacks and pave the way for meaningful negotiations, writes A2 CNN.
"Russia is prolonging the war and the losses. I thank every country and leader that is putting pressure on Moscow to stop the bombing, so that meaningful talks can be held at a level where real decisions can be made," he stressed, underlining the importance of international pressure to achieve a lasting peace.
