Vladimir Putin doesn't seem to scare Europeans. After Emmanuel Macron's continued insistence on pushing forward the idea of sending troops to Ukraine, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has also expressed such willingness.
According to the head of Downing Street, London is ready to deploy military troops in Ukraine that will operate for a long period, to support a possible ceasefire and prevent further Russian invasion.
A British government source told The Times that the deployment of the UK-led forces would be indefinite.
"It would be a long-term commitment, we're talking years. As long as it takes to preserve a peace agreement and deter Russia," the source told the British media.
Defense leaders from the coalition of volunteers will meet in London on Thursday to discuss where peacekeeping forces should be deployed, while dozens of countries, including Britain, France, Turkey, Canada and Australia, are discussing plans to send up to 30,000 troops to Ukraine.
Other countries are prepared to provide weapons and logistical support. However, it is currently unclear whether peacekeepers would be authorized to open fire on Russian soldiers in the event of aggression.
According to The Times, the rules of engagement are likely to be discussed in the coming days. (A2 Televizion)
