White House: US signs 'historic' $600 billion deal with Saudi Arabia

The White House has released a document that provides more details on what is included in the strategic economic partnership signed today between the US and Saudi Arabia.

According to foreign media, the White House calls the agreement "historic and transformative" for both countries, adding that it represents a "new golden era of partnership" between Washington and Riyadh.

The fact sheet says the deal will strengthen America's energy security, defense industry, technological leadership, and its access to global infrastructure and critical minerals.

This partnership between the two countries includes the "largest defense sales agreement in history," with $142 billion providing Saudi Arabia with "state-of-the-art combat equipment and services from over a dozen U.S. defense firms."

The agreement also includes "extensive training and support" to build the capacity of the Saudi armed forces, including upgrading Saudi service academies and military medical services.

The agreement also includes:

Several sector-specific funds, including a $5 billion energy investment fund, a $5 billion space and defense technology fund, and a $4 billion global sports asset fund;

The White House says these will channel "significant capital" into American industries, "spurring innovation and creating high-quality jobs across the United States";

The deal also includes exports of gas turbines and energy solutions totaling $14.2 billion and Boeing 737-8 passenger aircraft totaling $4.8 billion. (A2 Televizion)
