Thriller in Slovenia, MP climbs onto the roof of the Parliament to commit

An unusual event occurred in Slovenia today, where SDS party MP Andrej Hoivik climbed onto the roof of the National Assembly (Parliament) and threatened to commit suicide by jumping off.

Police, firefighters and rescue workers were forced to intervene in front of the Parliament building after Hoivik first locked himself in his office and then climbed onto the roof of the building, from where he threatened to jump.

" Never let your voice be stolen. Don't let democracy be taken away from you. You are the people, we are two million. Two million! ", he shouted from the roof of Parliament, as a crowd of people gathered below to watch the event unfold.

The deputy was also reportedly offered psychological help, and an unknown female person was trying to convince him to leave the roof. From his words, it was understood that he was in a romantic relationship with the girl.

" If you take one step forward, I will throw myself down ," the Slovenian MP retorted when she asked him to leave with her.

" I don't judge anyone. I don't condemn Jaša Jenull, I don't condemn Robert Golob. But it's not fair what they are doing to the country. This is not fair! Look at what they are doing to this country. Who is running this country? Laugh at Janez Janša, who says that we have gained independence, but we are not yet liberated. And this is true! I was elected - in your name! ", he addressed the crowd again.

" I was chosen to speak. And look, I myself, as much as I could, did this conscientiously during my service in parliament, where I presented more than 100 parliamentary questions and initiatives, where I spoke more than 100 thousand words. "In your name! ", continued the deputy.

The MP, who has recently appeared in public mainly in connection with the referendum on the law on pension supplements for artists, also touched on this issue.

" The rest of the world is democratic. But in this area we still have the ruins of a system that was dictatorial. This was Yugoslavia, ruled by Marshal Tito. He has been dead for 45 years and at the same time, we now have a law in parliament called 'Tito's Law'. It is a valid law, which dates back to 1974. And now we will consider it in Parliament next week. And believe me, they will do everything they can to protect it. We proposed that it be repealed, annulled, declared invalid. It is shameful that today, in 2025, we have laws from the previous regime. Dear friends, I am Andrej Hoivik! The leader of the referendum campaign against the privileges, against the arrogance of the Golob government ," he continued.

The deputy finally pulled himself together and calmed down a bit, so he asked the firefighters waiting below to help him from the roof. He was taken down by paramedics, accompanied by police.

The SDS parliamentary group reacted to the event, writing on the social network 'X' that the trials imposed by life are sometimes very difficult. " We ask for everyone's understanding and compassion ," they wrote.
