United States President Donald Trump is holding a meeting with the National Security Council in the Situation Room, following rising tensions in the Middle East.
According to media reports, the president is considering whether the US should become further involved in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.
Earlier, Israel has asked the United States for a "purely defensive stance" in its conflict with Iran, Israeli Ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, told CNN.
Meanwhile, more than 30 US tankers have been sent to the region over the past few days to prepare for the possibility that Trump may decide to order the US Air Force to help refuel Israeli fighter jets as they carry out strikes on Iran.
The Axios news agency, in its latest posts, writes that Trump is considering joining Israel's fight to bomb Iran's nuclear facilities, especially Fordow.
While Israeli media also claim that Israel is hoping that the US will join this clash with Iran very soon. (A2 Televizion)
