Was recruited by Ukraine for 100 thousand dollars, Russia arrests the suspect

The Russian security service says that a 29-year-old man from Uzbekistan has been arrested for the murder of senior general Igor Kirillov and his aide in Moscow.

Russian security services said the suspect was recruited by Ukrainian intelligence, according to state media agencies.

The public relations center of Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said on Wednesday that the 29-year-old arrested was "suspected of carrying out a terrorist attack".

A statement said that during "interrogation he explained that he had been recruited by the Ukrainian special services."

He added that on Ukraine's instructions, he arrived in Moscow and rented a car to monitor Kirillov's residence. He placed the explosive device on an electric scooter, which he parked at the entrance to the apartment building where Kirillov lived, the FSB said.

The FSB said the suspect was "guaranteed" a reward of $100,000 and travel to a European country for residency.

General Igor Kirillov, head of the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical (NBC) Defense Forces, was outside an apartment block early Tuesday when a device hidden on a scooter detonated remotely.

Ukraine on Tuesday claimed responsibility for the assassination of a senior Russian general on a Moscow street. The attack was carried out through the remote-controlled explosion of a bomb placed inside a small motor (scooter) parked near the building where the senior military leader resided.

A day before the killing, Ukraine charged Kirillov, 54, in absentia, saying he was "responsible for the massive use of banned chemical weapons." (A2 Televizion)
