Donald Trump is expected to sign a slew of executive orders at the start of his second term, which address various issues including immigration, energy and government structure.
His top domestic policy adviser, Stephen Miller, has submitted a list of orders to lawmakers, which Trump will sign after being sworn in.
He plans to take a series of actions to reverse some of President Joe Biden's executive orders. Details on these orders are limited and it is possible they could face immediate legal challenges.
List of executive orders:
Immigration: • National emergency declaration, primarily as a funding mechanism. • Formally initiates process to reinstate Immigrant Protection Protocols, which in the past have included the controversial Title 42. • Designation of cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. • A list of actions that would essentially bring back all the directives, guidelines that were in effect at the end of Trump's first term.
Other actions will focus on: • Alaska's Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. • Lifting the liquefied natural gas moratorium. • Withdrawing from the Paris climate agreement. • Creating the National Energy Council. • Declaring a national energy emergency.
Form of government: • Orders in “Plan F,” giving him the power to initiate mass layoffs of nonpartisan federal employees and ending remote work for federal employees. • Formally creates the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE. • The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Act, known as DEI.
