Istanbul was hit by a powerful earthquake shortly after noon on Wednesday, with a magnitude of 6.2 on the Richter scale, fortunately without injuries.
Shortly after the earthquake, large waves formed in the waters of the Bosphorus, a rare phenomenon that was captured by a citizen in the Beykoz area. The recorded footage shows powerful waves hitting the shore, but fortunately without consequences, writes A2 CNN.
According to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, 51 aftershocks were recorded after the earthquake, the strongest with a magnitude of 5.9. However, there are no reports of major damage to infrastructure or loss of life. Experts emphasize that the waves in the Bosphorus were created as a result of strong underground vibrations and sudden changes in the sea layers.
