Israel has submitted to mediators discussing the ceasefire and hostages in Doha a plan detailing the Israeli presence in the Gaza Strip during and after various stages of a possible deal, Qatar's Al-Quds Al-Arabi news agency reports.
The report states that Israel has requested a buffer zone of about 1.5 kilometers along the Gaza border that will remain under its control.
Previously a 300-meter zone was considered a dead zone while there was no IDF presence there and there was an agreement that the troops would shoot anyone who entered.
The report also notes that agreement has been reached on the various areas from which the IDF will withdraw in the first and second phases of the ceasefire, noting that the United States' cautious optimism stems from the fact that the current wording would provide the release of all agreed Palestinian hostages and prisoners.
Additionally, issues still under discussion are said to include the exact number of Palestinian prisoners to be released and where those serving long sentences will be released.
Israel has said it needs to know how many of the hostages are alive before agreeing on a number for the Palestinians. The Qatari agency also points out that agreements have been reached regarding the management of humanitarian aid within the Gaza Strip. (A2 Televizion)
