The European Union is "mentioned" after years of failed dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, promises to review the format of the talks between the parties, after confirming that she has heard strong criticism regarding it.
The EU official emphasizes that together with the new special envoy, Peter Sorensen, they will try to make the dialogue functional again. Kallas explained that during March she will deal extensively with this issue.
"It is clear that normalization of relations is necessary for both countries. And if they think that they can move forward on the European path, then I think that such a thing is not possible. In the meantime, we hear criticism about this format. So I really want to see how we can make this functional. I have also addressed this with the Serbian foreign minister. And he has told me that he is really willing to invest time in normalization. And also of course we have just had elections in Kosovo. Let's see how the new government will be formed and in what way we will move forward," said Kallas.
He made the statement during a conversation with journalists from 20 European news agencies. (A2 Televizion)
