The EU confirms that the new round of Kosovo-Serbia dialogue will take place on

The European Union has confirmed on Tuesday that the next meeting within the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, at the level of chief negotiators, will take place on December 17 in Brussels, and that both parties have confirmed their participation in this meeting.

The spokesperson of the EU for Foreign Policy and Security, Anitta Hipper, said that a series of issues will be discussed at this meeting, including the implementation of the Agreement towards the normalization of relations.

The last meeting at the level of chief negotiators was held on October 23 in Brussels.

Kosovo is represented by the deputy prime minister, Besnik Bislimi, while Serbia is represented by the director of the Office for Kosovo in the Government of Serbia, Petar Petkovic.

According to the diplomatic sources of Radio Free Europe, the European envoy for the dialogue, Miroslav Lajçak, has reported to the member countries about the state of the dialogue and has said that the parties have a clear lack of readiness to make any progress in the implementation of the Agreement for normalization.

The parties reached agreement on this agreement in February last year in Brussels, while on an implementation annex in Ohrid, North Macedonia, a month later.

The two countries have not taken steps towards the implementation of the pact and for this they blame each other.

The High Representative of the EU for Foreign Policy and Security, Kaja Kallas, has expressed her willingness to actively engage in the dialogue process.

Lajcak's mandate, extended several times, will end at the end of January next year.

It is expected that the chief diplomat Kallas, in cooperation with the member countries, will decide on the continuation of the dialogue, including whether there will be a successor to Lajçak in that post, and who he will be.

Serbia does not recognize the independence of Kosovo, declared in 2008.

The two countries have been in dialogue in Brussels with the mediation of the European Union since 2011, they have reached several agreements, but not all of them have been implemented. REL (A2 Televizion)
