While the West sees Russia as a destabilizing factor in the Balkans, Moscow claims that the situation in the region is deteriorating as a result of the policies of the US, NATO and EU countries. This is according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grusko, reports A2 CNN.
"The situation in the Balkans is deteriorating as a result of the calculated policy of NATO countries, the EU and the US, and is based on constant pressure on Serbia. Every means is being used for this, including undermining internal stability," he said on the "Russia 24" television channel, A2 CNN reports.
According to him, there are obvious attempts to destabilize the situation in Kosovo with "external support".
He added that the EU is constantly pressuring Serbia to join anti-Russian sanctions and recognize Kosovo's independence.
"This is how they behave towards independent states, even though they endlessly say that they respect freedom of choice. We see the same situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they are blatantly exerting pressure on the Republika Srpska, trying to deprive Serbs of their rights," were Grushko's words. (A2 Televizion)
