Member of the Social Democratic Initiative Presidency, Vesel Krasniqi, has called media reports that their three MPs will vote in favor of forming a Kurti government but without being included in the governing coalition speculation. In a response to Kosova Press, Krasniqi said that at the moment "there is no movement" and that the Initiative still stands by its leader Fatmir Limaj's previous statements.
After the February 9 elections, Limaj, in his only public appearance, refused to set "red lines" for the Vetëvendosje Movement in building a new government, stating that he is open to discussions on issues of national importance. However, the leader of the Social Democratic Initiative has also met with leaders of opposition parties about the possibilities of forming a government from PDK, LDK and AAK-Initiative.
"We are on Mr. Limaj's statements, we have no movement at the moment. These reports are speculations," said Krasniqi.
The Social Democratic Initiative will have three deputies in the Kosovo Assembly after competing in a pre-election coalition with the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK). The leader of this party, Ramush Haradinaj, has categorically expressed himself against a coalition with the Vetëvendosje Movement. In a statement this Monday, Haradinaj said that he does not believe that a Kurti 3 Government can be formed. According to him, no one from the opposition will cooperate with the Vetëvendosje Movement.
"We have been designated as an Alliance for an opposition coalition, an opposition government, I do not believe that anyone from the opposition will cooperate with the position. NISMA is also designated as an opposition coalition. I do not believe that Kurti will form the Government, they do not have the numbers and they are delaying like this. They cannot do it, because they do not have the numbers, they have ten fewer MPs than last time," said Haradinaj.
The CEC certified the final results on Thursday, March 27, and according to them, LVV has won 48 seats, PDK is ranked second with 24 seats in parliament, LDK has 20 seats, and AAK-Nisma has 8 seats. Non-Serb minorities have 10 deputies, the Serb list has 9, and one seat was won by Serbian politician and acting minister in the Kurti 2 government, Nenad Rashic. (A2 Televizion)
