The seasonal viruses seem to have reached their peak in the city of Shkodra, where for several days record numbers of patients seeking medical help have been recorded, but without any increase. The head of epidemiology in Shkodra has given an overview of the situation and the age groups most affected by the variants and subvariants of the viruses circulating in the country. According to her, in the last week alone, 500 cases have been recorded, mainly children and the elderly.
"The epidemiological situation in the Shkodra district is quite dynamic. The number of infected cases continues to be present. Citizens are turning to health centers to receive the appropriate service. We also have cases with serious clinical forms that are directed to regional hospitals, and mainly there are hospitalizations. In the last month there are over 2 thousand cases, while in the last week over 500 cases. We are at last year's figures, cases that appear have a more serious diagnosis compared to previous years. All ages are affected, but mainly children and the elderly."
According to the head of epidemiology, Dhurata Hysa, all types of viruses are circulating in the Shkodra district.
"But from the samples we have taken, the virus type A and subtype AH1 have been identified."
She appealed for increased care in food and hygiene, as well as avoiding gatherings.
"We must be careful and avoid gatherings and be careful with hygiene, and it is very important to eat as many liquid foods, soups, fruits and vegetables as possible."
