The Constitutional Court has rejected an appeal made by Mimoza Bruzia, accused by justice of the theft of 713 million lek from the treasury of the Bank of Albania, in the years 2010-2014.

In the Constitutional Court, Bruzia requested the annulment of the decisions given to her in the Court of Tirana, in the Appeal and in the Supreme Court, claiming a violation of the Constitution in the trial against her. In all three of these courts, the former employee of the Bank of Albania claimed innocence, but was unable to prove it.

Bruzia's appeal was reviewed in the Counseling Chamber, where it was decided to dismiss the request. Bruzia raised allegations of violation of the Constitution during the trial in the Appeal and in the Supreme Court, the court that upheld her sentence of 10 years in prison for the theft of the treasury of the Bank of Albania.

According to the courts, Bruzia had helped her colleague, Ardian Bitraj, who was sentenced to 13 years and 4 months in prison by the court, in stealing money. The judicial investigation proved that she had created conditions for Bitraj, allowing him to enter the premises where the amounts of money were located, where according to the regulation he should not go alone. During the trial, Bruzia herself claimed that she never saw Bitraj take money, nor did she create opportunities for him to act.

Several other officials of the Bank of Albania, as well as the former governor of the Bank of Albania, Ardian Fullani, were tried for "abuse of duty" for the same event, who was acquitted.  (A2 Televizion)
