Initially reported as an accidental death caused by asphyxiation in a house fire, it turned out to be a genuine murder attempted to look like an accidental house fire.
For the 52-year-old recluse Kozeta Teço, there are strong suspicions that she may have been murdered by a 37-year-old man, who is then thought to have staged the burning of the apartment in order to lose track of her.
The first suspicions were raised by the forensic examination, which found two deep wounds on the deceased's body, on the neck and shoulder, which forced the police to return to the scene and begin searching for evidence, writes A2 CNN.
Aided by cameras, the Pogradec Police initially found clothes used by the suspected perpetrator, thrown into the trash can.
The knife with which the 52-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed was also found in the same place. The suspect, Ilirjan Selmani, 37, was quickly identified and arrested, who was returned to the scene by the police and then escorted to the police station.
Although he has previously denied being the perpetrator of the murder, preliminary sources suggest that the 37-year-old had an intimate relationship with the 52-year-old victim and it is suspected that the income the victim earned from collecting garbage cans was also used by the 37-year-old, who is unemployed.
