The Albanian authorities seek to bring to justice Dritan Rexhepi, the drug baron arrested a few days ago in Turkey.
Ulsi Manja stated that the Ministry of Justice wants to complete this process before the Italian authorities, a country in which Rexhepi is also wanted.
"It is a relationship we have with the Turkish justice authorities. In this particular case, the Ministry of Justice acts as the mediator to get Dritan Rexhepin,' said Manja.
The Minister of Justice was also asked about the decision of the Strasbourg Court on January 21, which asked the law enforcement bodies to reopen this case.
"The decision clearly states, that matter must now be reopened by the law-enforcement bodies", the minister added.
The decision of Strasbourg concluded that human rights were violated in the investigation and trial of "January 21". Something similar is also claimed by the Greek state for the Beleri case, where the media of the neighboring country talk about a blockade of the integration process.
"We do not believe that Greece will turn into an obstacle for the negotiation process in the EU for Beleri, I do not believe that it will maintain the same position as with North Macedonia", said Manja.
The minister was also asked about the new Penal Code, where he stated that it is still being drafted, but taking care to underline that abuse of office will continue to be considered a criminal offense.
