The Tirana court held, this Thursday, the first hearing of the defamation suit of the elected mayor of Himara, Alfred Beleri, against the director of the Central State Archives, Ardit Bido.
In this session, where the parties are invited for reconciliation, Beleri refused to agree. While Bido has accepted reconciliation, but without withdrawing from his public statements, considered as defamation by Beleri. For this reason, the court scheduled the next hearing in January.
In his lawsuit, Beleri claims that Bido has stated false facts when he included his name in the Peshkpi massacre and participation in Greek ultra-nationalist groups.
Outside court, Bido said his statements referred to facts asserted by Greek scholars. (A2 Televizion)
