Seven physical security employees and the head of one of the departments of a telephone company in Tirana have been criminally prosecuted for failing to report an incident that occurred in December last year. The police announced that the incident occurred on December 25, 2024, at the premises of a telephone company, in the Lapraka area, when two masked citizens entered the premises of this company, damaging the lock of the back door.
The incident was discovered by the company's internal security officer, who stated in his statement that no items were taken and no material damage was caused. He did not notify law enforcement, but only notified the technical director and employees of the private security company group that was guarding the company's premises. It was also found that representatives of the telephone company were also aware of the incident, but did not report it to the competent authorities.
"The services of the Police Commissariat No. 3, in cooperation with the investigative structures of the Tirana DVP, after receiving information about an incident that occurred and was not reported, have carried out verification and investigative actions, which led to the ascertainment of this incident, which occurred on 25.12.2024, in the premises of a telephone company, in the Lapraka area. Preliminary investigations showed that at around 02:30 on December 25, two masked citizens entered the premises of this company, damaging the lock of the back door. The incident was ascertained by the internal security employee of this company, citizen G. K, who, in his statement, claimed that no items were taken and no material damage was caused. The employee in question did not notify the law enforcement agencies, but is suspected of having only notified the technical director and the employees of the private physical security company group that had the company's premises under guard. At the conclusion of the procedural actions, Police Commissariat No. 3 referred the materials to the Prosecutor's Office where criminal proceedings were initiated for the offenses of "Failure to report a crime" and "Actions that hinder the discovery of the truth", " against: 2 employees of the company's internal security, citizens GK, 50 years old and AF, 31 years old, as well as the head of the office and property department of this telephone company, citizen ES, 38 years old.
Criminal proceedings were also initiated for the offense of "Failure to report a crime" against: the technical director and 4 employees of the private physical security company group that guarded the company's premises, citizens AZ, 54 years old, GS, 40 years old, KV, 63 years old, MD, 55 years old; and IT, 62 years old.
"Investigations, led by the Prosecutor's Office, continue to identify the perpetrators and fully clarify the circumstances of the incident, as well as to verify whether the legal and contractual obligations have been fulfilled by the private physical security company that guarded the company's premises."
The procedural actions were referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
