One of the most sensational anti-drug operations, codenamed "Ura", has led to the arrest of 42 people, while 10 others are still being sought, including leaders of criminal groups and influential figures in the underworld. Among those arrested are two on-duty police officers and a lawyer. A2 CNN journalist Xhensila Kodra revealed in A2 Sot the key role of Nuredin Dumani in uncovering this criminal network. According to her, the justice collaborator, through his testimonies, has helped Albanian and Italian authorities identify many names involved in international drug trafficking.
"Italian prosecutors claimed that they had 3 collaborators in Italy for the investigations. What is striking is that it seems that one of the collaborators of justice who has uncovered a series of events and murders in Albanian territory and not only was informed about this criminal group in Durrës. The names of Visit i Pojë and Andi Coba have also emerged from the testimonies of Nuredin Dumani, which has previously led Albanian prosecutors to question him. These names are mentioned in the voluminous file of Italian prosecutors," said the A2 CNN journalist.
One of the most talked about names in this file is that of Elvis Doçi, known as Visi i Pojës, a businessman with great influence in the city of Durrës and an important figure in the underworld. He continues to be internationally wanted. According to the SPAK file and the Italian prosecutor's office, the group's criminal activity began in 2016, while investigations have intensified since 2020.
Everything has been documented thanks to interceptions carried out through encrypted applications such as Sky ECC, used by members of the network to communicate. According to Dumani, such a mobile phone was bought on the black market in Tirana for 2 thousand euros and used for six months, reaching a cost of 4 thousand euros per year.
"In concrete names, criminal events are also mentioned and these wiretaps are expected to be verified. Nuredin Dumani mentions how he met these people in Durrës and how they communicated and secured themselves regarding mobile phones that were purchased on the black market in Tirana that were used with the Sky Ecc applications. According to him, a mobile phone through his acquaintances was bought for 2 thousand euros and used for 6 months, that is 4 thousand euros for a year," the A2 CNN journalist emphasized.
The joint file of Albanian and Italian prosecutors has documented over 40 cases of international drug trafficking, including heroin, cocaine and cannabis, as well as the transfers of large sums of money gained from this criminal activity.
Another important name in this scheme, according to the journalist sw A2 CNN, is Adi Çoba, identified as responsible for the transport of money. He is suspected of having collaborated with Agron Ganaj, who received in Italy a quantity of 25 kg of heroin. Italian prosecutors confirmed that they had three collaborators for the investigation, while 14 of the arrested are filed by the Italian authorities.
"In addition to Visit Poja, Adi Çoba also had a key role in sending the money, documented by Italian prosecutors. It concerns 25 kg of heroin that were sent to Italy and this narcotic substance was received there by Agron Ganaj, an associate of Çoba. 14 of the arrested Albanians are registered by the Italian police, the rest have carried out their activities on Albanian territory", stressed journalist Kodra.
