A detainee, citizen Besnik Koçiu, passed away this morning in the premises of the QSUT.
It is learned that Koçiu was accommodated in the 'Jordan Misja' detention center in the capital, reports A2 CNN.
It is also reported that he was found unconscious in his cell at around 07:00 and although he was transported to the hospital and received medical treatment, he did not survive.
Citizen Koçiu was under investigation for the criminal offense of "Unlicensed possession of weapons and production of weapons", while work is underway to fully clarify the incident.

On July 24, 2025, at around 08:00, in the Emergency Room of the QSUT, the detainee Besnik Koçiu, born on October 26, 1974, who had been accommodated in the Institution for the Execution of Criminal Decisions (IEVP) "Jordan Misja" since July 16, 2025, having come from the Tirana Police Directorate, passed away.
At around 07:00 on July 24, nursing staff were notified that citizen Koçiu was unconscious in his room. He was immediately transported by emergency to the QSUT at 07:08, where he arrived at 07:12 and was treated by the emergency medical team. Despite medical intervention, at 08:00 his death was confirmed.
Citizen Koçiu, at the time of admission to the institution, stated that he was suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Arterial Hypertension and an ischemic stroke that occurred about six months ago, for which he had ongoing therapy, a reference for which a medical record was opened for him to conduct ongoing examinations.
Citizen Koçiu was under investigation for the criminal offense of "Unlicensed possession of weapons and production of weapons."
The incident was immediately referred to the relevant authorities.
