A fire broke out today at a place called Ura e Kardhiqit, in the Gjirokastra district.
According to sources from the fire service, it is reported that the fire broke out on the road leading to the village of Palokastra, on a hill behind the school, also endangering a nearby residence.

"At 1:15 p.m., we received a report that a fire had broken out at a place called Ura e Kardhiqit, on the road leading to the village of Palokastra, on the hill behind the school, and a house was in danger. The service team immediately headed to the scene and intervened to isolate the fire from the house. 12 firefighters, 2 fire trucks and two support vehicles went to the scene, which worked to throw water and with tools such as backpack pumps and rubber shovels, to isolate the fire until it was completely extinguished. The fire burned an area of about 3 hectares of grass and bushes," the Fire Service said in a statement.
