A fire has engulfed the chestnut grove above the village of Leshnica this afternoon. The fire was spotted by the village headman Ladi Lipo, who immediately called for help from residents and they went on foot to the area to isolate and extinguish the rapidly spreading flames, A2 CNN reports.
After more than an hour of work with emergency equipment, they managed to extinguish the fire, preventing further burning of the chestnut forest.
A2 CNN learns that the mayor reports that there was damage to chestnut seedlings and herbs, but thanks to the work, the situation is under control.
Residents are still staying in the area to prevent the fire from rekindling. It is suspected that the fire was caused by the carelessness of a resident. (A2 Televizion)
