Former Prime Minister Sali Berisha has made a strong call for Albanian citizens to turn out en masse in the May 11 elections, describing this process as an opportunity for change and the restoration of democracy.
From Lezha, he openly accused representatives of the majority of vote buying and links to organized crime. Referring to the US position, Berisha said that the US State Department has given a clear message of support for democracy and change in Albania.
"On May 11, we must answer this call. Let's vote for change, for democracy, for victory," he stressed.
Berisha also called on administration employees not to feel threatened and to vote freely.
"We have the utmost respect for every law enforcement officer. The patronizers will come to their end! They should not be confused with you, honest men and women who serve the Albanian citizens," he said.
Berisha also accused other parties that did not join his coalition, describing them as forces that aim to keep Edi Rama in power.
"But there is no force to keep Rama in power! So I invite you to vote for change, for Lezha, for Albania," Berisha concluded. (A2 Televizion)
