A dark day for Bayern Munich and the wider football community, as Bayern Munich's reserve goalkeeper Sven Ulreich announced in an Instagram post on Friday that his 6-year-old son, Len, has passed away.
The 36-year-old Bavarian goalkeeper, who has been with the club since 2015, announced that little Len passed away a few weeks ago, losing his battle with a serious illness, which he did not specify.
In the text he posted, he states that together with his wife and daughter, they are trying to return to normality, while asking the public and the media to respect this difficult period and not to take the matter further.
Message from Ulreich and his wife:
" It is with deep sadness that we would like to inform you today that our son Len passed away a few weeks ago, after a long and serious illness.
The decision to make this public is extremely difficult for us, but it is an important step for us as a family, in order to create clarity for both the surrounding environment and the general public. Together with our daughter, we are now trying, step by step, to return to everyday life.
A special thank you goes to families, friends and Bayern Munich for their discretion and great support over the past months, this means a lot to us.
We ask the public and the media to show understanding and respect for our privacy. Please do not ask any further questions or requests for statements.
