Bayern Munich goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer has renewed his contract with the German club, securing his stay at the Allianz Arena until June next year, the Bundesliga club announced on Monday.
Neuer, who turns 39 next month, moved to Bayern from German side Schalke in 2011 and has since made 547 appearances, keeping 258 clean sheets for the Bavarians.
Neuer's previous contract with Bayern was set to expire at the end of this season, but despite bringing in several new goalkeepers, the German club appear not yet ready to play without Neuer between the posts.
Next season will mark his 15th year at Bayern. He has won the German championship 11 times, the German Cup five times and the Super Cup six times. He has also lifted Europe's most important club trophy, the Champions League, twice, in 2013 and 2020.
In August last year, Neuer announced his retirement from the German national team after 124 matches. His greatest success with the national team was winning the World Cup in 2014. (A2 Televizion)
