Julian Nagelsmann will remain at the helm of Germany after the 2026 World Cup. At the ceremony marking the 125th anniversary of the founding of the German Football Association, the coach signed a contract extension.
According to the contract, he will remain in charge of the national team until 2028, a period that also coincides with the European Championship to be held in Great Britain and Ireland. Previously, the federation's Executive Committee had unanimously approved the proposal of DFB President Bernd Neuendorf to continue the project with the coach.
Nagelsmann took charge of Germany in September 2023 and in the space of 16 months convinced everyone with the work done. Initially, the agreement envisaged his stay on the bench until the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, but the performance and play of the "panzers" made the coach win a vote of confidence, writes A2 CNN.
Even the 37-year-old himself did not foresee staying in the national team beyond Euro 2024, where Germany was the host team. The successful organization of the event and the fantastic performance, where the team was controversially eliminated by European champion Spain, convinced everyone that the work must continue.
According to president Neuendorf, the renewal of the contract with coach Nagelsmann is a strong signal that the Germans will not be satisfied with the successes of the past, but will work for the future. (A2 Televizion)
