The former legend of Milan, the French defender Marcel Desailly, winner of the Champions League and the World Cup, is involved in a financial crisis, and he is not even able to pay the obligations for his children.
On Tuesday in Paris, Desailly will face a court hearing over a dispute with his former partner, Cosma Batista de Alcantara. They will go to the Paris court to confirm if Desailly is the biological father of the ex-partner's daughter.
According to the French newspaper "Le Parisien", Desailly has refused to accept Victoria as his daughter since 2021, however, a DNA test has confirmed that he is the child's father. As a result, he could be forced to pay £4,148 a month to Batista de Alcantara, with whom he was in a relationship from 2010 to 2018.
But, according to the same newspaper, Desailly is "almost broke" financially and says he is unable to pay this amount. He has been paying £4,148 a month to the government as part of a fiscal settlement from 2022 after being punished for tax avoidance between 2011 and 2019. Also, he has sold some assets to cover expenses for his other four children.
Batista de Alcantara, however, is not convinced about Desailly's financial situation, saying he has always stated he has no money, although he has spoken of an apartment he said he owned in Paris, where they have never moved.
Desailly's lawyer has claimed that he is not a "rich footballer" and that his professional future is uncertain, as he has no prospects of a new contract with beIN Sports. (A2 Televizion)
