Inter continued their winning streak in Serie A by beating Cagliari 3-0 at Unipol Domus, climbing to the top of the table on goal difference, overtaking Atalanta.
Cagliari, after the narrow loss to Venezia, tried to react, but facing the black, unbeaten in the last 11 matches of the championship, was a difficult challenge. In the first half, Lautaro Martínez squandered a golden opportunity, sending the ball over the crossbar after a perfect cross from Nicolò Barella.
Although Cagliari created some dangerous counter-attacks, the first half ended goalless, maintaining Inter's record as the only team not to have been at a disadvantage at the break this season.
The second half started with Inter dominating, when Alessandro Bastoni opened the scoring with a header. Lautaro Martínez scored the second goal, while Hakan Çalhanoğlu sealed the win from the penalty spot.
The midfielder of the National Team, Kristjan Asllani, was activated for only 10 minutes at the end of the meeting, replacing Mikhtaryan.
