Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United and moved 13 points clear of Arsenal at the top of the Premier League, continuing their excellent run of results at Anfield, where they have scored at least two goals in each of their last matches.
Alexander Isak's absence from Newcastle, due to a thigh injury, made Eddie Howe's job more difficult. On the other hand, Arne Slot was left off the bench due to a two-match suspension following incidents in the match against Everton.
Liverpool took the lead in the 11th minute through a goal from Dominik Szoboszlai, after a brilliant pass from Luis Díaz. Despite a good chance for Callum Wilson, who missed a golden opportunity to close the gap on Liverpool, Slot's team continued to control the game. In the second half, Alexis Mac Allister scored Liverpool's second goal after a brilliant combination with Mohamed Salah.
Although they fell short of their best, Liverpool finished the match with a deserved victory. Newcastle, without Isak, have lost four of their last six Premier League games and now face an uphill battle for European qualification.
Meanwhile, Citu won 0-1 away against Tottenham, while United triumphed with difficulty 3-2 against Ipswich. (A2 Televizion)
